hoverboards!

as you guys may (or may not know) lately i've really gotten back into the Back to the Future triology (despite 3 being what 3 is). I guess its when i stumbled upon the dvd set while home and my thoughts on time travel and my love for MJ FOX (Doc hollywood what what! ((also i thought it was unfair that micheal jordan was the only one to have the title of MJ when i was younger and always though Micheal J. fox was equally deserving(((J. isn't even his real middle intial, its andrew, but he thought the J sounded better)))))) 

while watching the first one (finally) the other day, i remembered why my sisters and i loved this movie so much growing up. it has everything! its a period piece, it has action, romance, sci fi, comedy, basically it has it all. But what struck me the most was its sci-fi nature. in my mind, this has always been a family film and for the reason that it has become such a classic, i never thought of it in that realm. The references to old space novels of aliens and the obvious nod to invention and time travel, it plays off of classic fantasies that have been adopted by "nerds", yet everyone enjoys it (maybe its because mikey is so dang cute and charming in it) but honestly, its so crazy how he goes back in time and has to fix everything he messes up, and oh how cleanly its fixed. (but as someone else pointed out, time travel isn't that realistic either) 

now im really pumped to watch the 2nd one again because i loved the back and forth of past, present, future, and how dramatically Marty McFly's life and family changes and of course THE HOVERBOARD SCENE! gosh. i always thought i could have been a really cool skater chick (this was probably only the summer between 9th and 10th grade) except that i wasn't all that good. I could olly and ride around my neighborhood but ,like we saw today and in the original BTTF, i can't hold onto the back of a moving vehicle and sip on an ice latte while riding on my board. SO the hoverboard would be perfect because it would absorb all of my inbalances and prevent me from cracking teeth and breaking my nose when i hit even the smallest pebble.

i don't really know where else to go with this pointless rant of sorts, so i guess ill end with this question, and i'm not saying that this is even my answer. BUT! what sort of invention that people envision as "futuristic" would you want to be invented already!?
