list of skills for living

my last night in paris jackie and i got locked out of the apartment we were staying in and had one of us been able to pick a lock we would have been able to sleep in beds instead of shivering on a stairway platform. this inspired us to create a list of skills for living that in survival and social situations would be excellent to have. 

they are in no particular order

-pick a lock
-read roman numerals
-open bottle with teeth
-change a tire
-drive stick shift
-CPR and other emt skills
-learn how to use a sewing machine
-learn how to knit
-drive a motorcycle
-learn another language (+ sign language)
-identify plant life
-grow a garden
-go to every single state
-climb mountains
-sail a boat
-navigate using the north star
-hot wire a car
-shoot a gun
-midwivery
-clear and airway with a pen
-biology- identify birds, fish, animals, etc
-build a fire
-horse back ride (western style)
-build an igloo
-build a raft
-fish
-set a bone
-to fly a plane
-play poker
-self defense
-purify water
-tie a knot
-barbeque
-learn how to skateboard/surf
-learn the adobe suite
-swim
-learn how to play piano
-to have a standing knowledge of classical music and jazz
-to refine ones palette
-be able to identify art and architectural movements and styles
-identify spices
-take a wine class and retain the knowledge
-applicable to alcohol and mixed drinks
-be a confident chef
-skilled enough to make souffles, poached eggs, quiches, etc.

    learn how to share.
    learn when to shut up.
    learn when to defend yourself.
    know how to get stains out of clothing.
    how to unclog a toilet.
    how to clean a bathroom/kitchen properly.
    learn to appreciate you parents no matter what.
    understand (and use!!) basic english grammar.
    learn how to dress appropriately for specific social situations.
    learn how to converse with elders.
    learn how to converse with your peers.
    learn how to operate public transportation wherever you are.
    use thank you notes.
    know when to say thank you.

  2. maybe its just because I'm so practical.. but I think I can do a lot of these things.. my specialty is picking locks with my health insurance card... I had to do that on like Wednesday

  3. no like actually pick the lock. not just slide the lock. we couldnt do that trick on the door they had.
