kristina will know what this is, but sarah you wont so i will explain. at our high school they have this night once a year where students can read poetry, play music, perform, and basically any sort of creative performance. its normally more of the eccentric and theater kids that particpate but i have to say its one of the cooler events that our high school hosts. its sort of like a coffee house open mic type deal. i never did it because i didnt like being on stage. chelsea was fairly involved because she wrote a lot in high school. sophie auditioned this year without telling my mom and got in and gets to read two poems (thats more than chelsea did in one night). none of us even knew she wrote. i emailed her asking to hear her poem and i was really blown away. here is one of them entitled "Elephant"
I wait
Wait for a sound
wait for a movement
An acknowledgement
Acknowledgement that I am here
That i am not the elephant in the room
you simply cannot ingore me for being me
but instead of being me
i am akward
i am strange
weird even
but you simply cannot ingore me like the elephant in the room
she is only 14. i see a bright future for her!
sophie is seriously so talented and no one knows it.
